The Royal Sutton Coldfield is a newly refurbished 4 screen cinema in the heart of the Royal Town of Sutton Coldfield with a multi million pound investment via PDJ Management in 2024. Art Deco features restored and a luxury bar area brings and new experience to cinemas goers.
In 1928 It was built as an Odeon Cinema of Oscar Deutsch by the architect Cecil Clavering, part of the Harry Weedon partnership using the same style in York, Harrogate and Scarborough. Sutton Coldfield and Harrogate are the only two orginal buildings that still operate as a cinema nearly 100 years later
The cinema opened on the 18th April 1936 and seated 1028 in the stalls and 572 in the balcony. In 2006 this and several other Odeons were taken over by Empire but closed in 2020 amongst the Covid pandemic. We (PDJ) announced in December 2023 the take over of the cinema to be restored to its former glory giving the cinema a new lease of life.
